Hi! My name is Sanya and I'm currently a freshman at UC Berkeley in the Global Management Program studying business (finance specifically) and data science! I just came back from a semester abroad in London and I'm super excited to be back in Berkeley. Outside of that, I love to play and watch basketball, as well as listen to music (rap>) and hike!

If you could give your high school self a piece of advice, what would it be?

I would tell myself to take advantage to ALL opportunities presented, so doing more clubs, activities, going out of my comfort zone, and making more of an effort to try something new. I think I waited a little too long to try different and new things and be ambitious with them and I wish I had done that earlier.

Did you have any goals that pushed you throughout high school? How did you approach those? Are you still pursuing them now that you're out of high school? If not, why?

I think I had a lot of ever changing goals, but one that kinda kept me pushing through sophomore year was to be an investment banker on Wall Street, and at the time I had no idea what that was and then I realized I didn't care about finance so then my goal simply became to move to New York for my career, but now in college I realized I really like finance so I'm pivoting back to that goal of IB in New York. I did a lot of business extra curricular and taking what I learned from them into college was really great, I got to build on my goals based on what I learned through these extra curriculars.

What experience had the greatest impact on you at EVHS?

Honestly, playing basketball at EV.

Have you kept some relationships with the people you were with in high school?

My core friends, yes. Other people, not in the same way, but seeing them in college or situations outside of high school gives me a sense of comfort and going to the same hs bonds us in a way.

Do you still live in San Jose? Why or why not?

My family still does, and SJ is still home bc that's where I go when I'm not in college.

What was your primary academic/extracurricular focus in high school?

Basketball + Non-Profit work + startup I launched

Are you in college? If so, which college and what major? Are you working? If so, where? If you're not in either of these, what are you doing now?

Yes, UC Berkeley, Business Administration with a concentration in Global Management and intended minor in data science. I'm working an internship currently at A100X Venture (Early stage Venture Capital Firm)
