I’m an Oakland native, been teaching 23 years total. I have taught ethnic studies, PE, and I currently teach English and History. I have 2 masters degrees.

English: chronologically from slave narratives to the Joylit Club
History: chronologically from the Revolution to the Clinton Administration

How should students prepare to take your class? What are things they should know before taking your class?
History: Students should have a comprehensive knowledge of the 50 states and the American Revolution, Civil War, and the World Wars and the US contributions in the World Wars
English: Students should fundamentally have a sound command of English grammar and being willing to put in the work to think and analyze critically at the upper division level
What advice would you give to incoming students?
Read my syllabus, follow my directions explicitly, and understand that we should be celebrating our differences and not ostracizing others when they are
